I feared such an early novel m...Thanks for comment. I feared such an early novel might be dully conventional, and was pleasantly surprised. I like the late novels very much, esp. Eva Trout. I once had a biography of EB by an eminent critic (Hermione Lee?), who described that novel as disastrous, or something along those lines.
